Decline in the number of visitors at Las Vegas Casinos

25 Dec 2008

Unlike all the previous years, when winter time was the best time for tourists going to Vegas, this year there is a major decrease in the quantity of players and tourists in Las Vegas. The authorities of the tourism and gambling business have began compiling the information on the flow of visitors in 1983 and in October this year they have marked a decline of 10.2%. This is if compared to the amount of visitors last year in October. To compare, the biggest decline so far was 14.1 after the September, 11th.

This decline might indicate that the US players are not willing to spend a lot on big purchases including tickets and are not willing to spend a lot on gambling.

These figures track the tendency in the national economy. It is worth mentioning that the decline was not sudden, as it has started from 4% in January.

Las Vegas casinos are not the only ones, as the Atlantic City suffers not less. However, in the Atlantic City the casino owners used this figures to fight against the smoking bans on casinos that decreased the number of players. This was made even worse with winter decline in the number of players.
