Sports Betting and Table Games Will Be Legalized in Delaware
This Thursday the Governor Jack Markell has signed the bill allowing sports betting and table games, including blackjack, roulette, craps and poker, at the Delaware's racinos. Thus, now the state of Delaware is the only area on the east of the Mississippi River in which the sports betting events and table games will be legalized and run in less than six months.
It is planned that the Delaware Park, the Premier Racetrack and Gaming Venue, will be the first to offer these new kinds of gambling in the state. The authorities expect that only sports betting activities will bring more than $600 million in the first year to patch the holes in the budget.
Still the plan to launch sports lottery may face the legal challenge as Delaware is among the few states that were the first to maintain the federal law back in 1992 to ban sports gambling. Thus, the professional sports leagues may boycott the plan to expand gambling in the area.
