Online blackjack and poker rooms are on high alert for identity theft

26 May 2025

Companies that provide games of Bingo and Poker online have recently gone on high alert for identity theft after Fouad Mourtada was sentenced for three years by the Moroccan Government for creating a false Facebook profile under the name of the Prince Moulay Rachid of Morocco. Having checked all the profiles in the gambling systems, some casinos found that there were players registered using the names of famous people, like Diego Maradonna, Anthony Hopkins and Prince William etc., however, as they had already expected that, all those names proved to be fake ones. Other casinos claim that they do know that they have players using fake names, some even name themselves blackjack-king, poker-guru and so on, but the casinos do not bother until the players play for fun only. Moreover, players with such, as the casinos call them - golden names, have been found to be selling their golden names on Casino forums.

Yet, most of the casinos that provide online Blackjack and other online casino games are still on the high alert.

Thanks to all the pressure of Human Rights groups that circulated petitions to activists and concerned citizens for the prisoner's release, Fouad Mourtada got out after 43 days of his imprisonment. His lawyer says, that despite the fact that in most European casinos using fake names is a common practice, that was the first case in a Moroccan society and obviously not something taken lightly by the authorities.
